Just yesterday, it was reported that a police report was made against an LED light festival in Johor after a rocket replica at the event had China flags displayed on it.

Now, the Tangkak District Council has announced that they have shut down the festival completely.

Taking to their Facebook page, they wrote, “On December 25, 2024 (Wednesday), the Tangkak District Council (MDT) received a complaint regarding the actions of the organiser who erected a space shuttle-shaped structure with Chinese flag stickers at the LED Light Fantasy Carnival at the Bukit Gambir Multipurpose Hall, Tangkak, which has caused concerns among locals.”

They then investigated the carnival and found that they were not in compliance with the terms and conditions set by the local authorities.

Hence, they were ordered to shut down.

“The intended action to dismantle the structure has been taken, and a notice of immediate cessation of operations has been issued by MDT to the organiser on December 26, 2024 (Thursday) in accordance with Sections 14(1)(b) and 49(2) of the Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing By-Laws (Tangkak District Council) 2017 due to the violation of the said conditions,”

“Further monitoring on December 26, 2024 (Thursday) found that no activities were going on, and the carnival has completely closed,” they added.

MDT went on to urge businesses to comply with the conditions established by the local authorities or face strict action.
