A single mother in China passed away at home, and before her body was retrieved, her son stayed by her side.

The son, who is only 2 years old, remained by his mother’s side for days before the neighbours alerted the police after finding out about the tragic incident.

The deceased was only 28 years old and was living with her child following her divorce.

The Cangnan County Women’s Federation confirmed that the mother died while her son was at home, and the police said they received a report about the matter on August 17. The cause of death, however, is still being investigated.

The 2-year-old son, on the other hand, had reunited with his father following the tragic death. He met his father after the police had sent him for a medical check-up in the hospital, and the medical personnel confirmed that the child was safe and healthy.

However, the kid was not exactly in good condition when he was found by the neighbours.

“His clothes were tainted with his urine and faeces, and the neighbours helped clean him up after they found him,” the medical personnel said, reported ETToday.

The medical personnel also said the kid was quiet and did not speak much during the observation at the hospital.

The kid is now under the care of his father, and police did not reveal the reason behind Zheng’s divorce.
