A 65-year-old was fatally stabbed by her 21-year-old grandson

Baling District Police Chief Superintendent Brandon Richard Joe said the 21-year-old suspect is the grandson of the 65-year-old victim who died, while the 80-year-old injured victim is the suspect’s great-grandmother, according to Berita Harian.

“The suspect is a person with an intellectual disability and is believed to have gone on a rampage, attacking both the deceased and the other victim with a sharp weapon,” he said, adding that a weapon, believed to have been used in the attack, has been recovered.

“The deceased was sent to the Forensic Department at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar for a post-mortem, while the injured victim was taken to Kulim Hospital for treatment,” he told Sinar Harian.

The suspect is now being held to assist with the investigation

Brandon added that investigations found that the suspect has no prior criminal record and admitted to stabbing and slashing his grandmother and great-grandmother at the scene.

The suspect has been arrested to help with the investigation and is set to be remanded today at the Baling Magistrate’s Court.

“We’re continuing our investigations, and for now, the suspect is being held to assist with the probe,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Sections 302 and 307 of the Penal Code.
