Two individuals were fined by the Ministry of Health for violating the SOPs during the Melaka State Elections.

After investigations were done regarding a video that went viral on social media, Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Dato’ Seri Ab Rauf Yusof were found to have breached the standard operating procedures (SOPs) on 19 November 2021 around Masjid Tanah area.

According to the official statement of the Ministry of Health, the ministry has issued a compound of RM10,000 each to the two individuals.

The compound under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 was issued as they did not follow the SOPs during the Melaka polls campaign, which include house to house campaign visits as well as not wearing face masks.

The statement also adds that the SOPs to curb the spread of Covid-19 during the Melaka Elections were disclosed on 7 November 2021. The ministry will also continue to monitor the adherence of SOP and urge the public to be responsible for their roles in fighting against the pandemic.
