Oh no, the poor baby!
According to Taiwan News, a one-year-old baby girl passed away after getting abused by her mother and three other men. The incident happened at a home in Tainan City, Taiwan and was reported on January 15 earlier this year.
The child’s 17-year-old mother, Hsueh, confessed to beating her child frequently along with her boyfriend and two cousins. The four of them were reportedly living with the victim and said that they only did so to discipline the child.
According to Tainan prosecutor, Yeh Ching-Tsai, the four of them were often irritated by the baby’s crying and would frequently abuse the child with their bare hands or with various items. The girl was only under one-and-a-half years old and could not speak yet. She was abused for 3 months before passing away.
Yeh reported that the victim was also not fed regularly and could not get enough sleep due to all of the beatings. He also mentioned that the victim was never sent to the hospital or treated after each episode of abuse.
On January 15, the suspects were still beating the girl despite her body being fully covered with bruises. After a couple of hours, the four defendants found that the baby’s body temperature had dropped significantly and that her eyes had rolled up inside her head. Even then, they did not bring the 1-year-old girl to the hospital and she unfortunately passed away that afternoon.
Since then, the three adult men have been indicted on charges of intentionally injuring a baby, being abusive, and for committing homicide. The prosecutor in charge is currently requesting for the three men to serve a life-long sentence in prison as the nature of their crime was despicable. Her mother on the other hand, being only 17 years old, was remanded into custody as decided by the juvenile court.
