It is already a fact that food wastage goes up during festive seasons and that’s not exactly a good thing.
To combat this issue, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has set up an initiative named MySave Food @ Bazar Ramadhan.
On the fifth day of this initiative, which is on 20 March 2024, they received 291.65 kg of food that was unsold and up till now, they have accumulated a total of 1,975.83 kg of food!
This is how it works: bazaar stall operators will send the food that they can’t sell and is still edible to the Mysave Food stall where the volunteers are present.
The food that they receive will then be distributed to the underprivileged in Shah Alam after iftar, so it will not be going to waste!
Stall operators are advised to plan the quantity they are selling so that they can reduce food wastage on their end as well.
Netizens are supportive of this and have praised MBSA.
“Congratulations MBSA. Congratulations to the stall operators. They will be blessed with sustenance for giving food to the needy. Amin.”
“Alhamdullilah, they could share with those in need,” commented a user.
One netizen suggested, “This should be done by all the local governments in Malaysia.”
There are only certain bazaars where this initiative is in effect so if you’d like to go, they are:
?Bazar Ramadhan Stadium Shah Alam Seksyen 13
?Bazar Ramadhan Seksyen 17, Shah Alam
?Bazar Ramadhan Seksyen 19, Shah Alam
