Throughout our lives, we always see chubbier people getting targeted in bullying cases, more often than not. As unfortunate as it is for bigger people, skinny humans constantly get bullied too. Yes, it’s true!

Just like for fat people, there are certain words and phrases that are annoying AF for skinny people to hear, and even more so when they sometimes can’t help their circumstances due to genetics.

If you’ve ever caught yourself saying any one of these things, just know that your skinny brothers and sisters are super done with them. Here are just some of the terms, questions and statements that irritate the hell out of them.

1. Plank

Since we are Malaysians, we are multilingual. Hence, this word comes in many variations such as stick, branch, papan, kayu, and mu (木).

Regardless of the language used, it all boils down to the fact that you’re calling someone a piece of wood. And no one wants to be called that, ever.

2. Are you on a diet?

Followed by,Ā “Stop dieting lah, you’re so skinny already.”

3. Are you sick? Are you anorexic?

As worried as you are about someone’s health, asking such invasive questions isn’t very appropriate unless you’re really close to them.

In fact, some people still mind being asked such questions even if it is coming from their own family. Perhaps being a bit more subtle and cautious with your choice of words would be more helpful; well, unless you notice an extreme decline in their weight, then you should totally be worried!

4. Is that enough? You should eat more

Let them eat in peace. If they want to eat just a salad, it’s up to them. Actually, regardless of what they eat, even if they’re eating a massive plate of rice with generous amounts ofĀ ayam goreng, it is their wish lah.

5. Wow, you’re so thin but you can eat like a fat person

14 Things Super Skinny Malaysians Have Heard Way Too Much - World Of Buzz 4

First of all, not all fat people can eat so much, okay. Secondly, I think we’ve established the fact that appetite and size are just correlations and not causal.

6. Aeroplane

This is yet another sickening thing to hear, especially when it is targeted at girls. It is basically calling a girl flat-chested.

It sucks the most when they make comparisons of thin girls’ chests to that of boys’. Ugh. Sometimes, it is just genetics. There are many girls who are thin but have big tatas, okay. Just love yourself no matter what you’re #blessed with!Ā

7. Skinny people are weak

Woah, stop right there. There are many people who are thin yet strong enough to break someone’s nose okay. Don’t play play.Ā

Plus, contrary to popular belief, some of them can totally carry all those heavy stuff. Just because they’re skinny does not mean they don’t have any muscles, especially if you know they work out.Ā #SkinnyButStrong

8. ARE YOU ON DRUGS?!

Why so rude?

9. Chicken feet or chopstick legs

“Are those legs or poles? Hahaha!”

10. You can eat as much as you want because you’re so skinny

14 Things Super Skinny Malaysians Have Heard Way Too Much - World Of Buzz 10

Excuse me, just because someone is slender, it doesn’t mean they can ignore a proper diet and hantam all kinds food. In the end, everyone still has to take care of their health. It’ll show sooner or later!

11. Why are you exercising?

“Skinny doesn’t mean healthy, excuse me!” –Ā Chloe, 23.

12. Wind blow, you fly to America

14 Things Super Skinny Malaysians Have Heard Way Too Much - World Of Buzz 12

Ah yes, the old broken English saying that insinuates someone is so thin and light that they can be easily blown away by the wind to as far as America.

13. Be careful ah, don’t break yourself

14 Things Super Skinny Malaysians Have Heard Way Too Much - World Of Buzz 15

Sometimes they also joke about how tugging too hard at a skinny person’s limb might cause them to dislocate a shoulder or break a bone.

14. Do you buy your clothes from the kids’ section?

14 Things Super Skinny Malaysians Have Heard Way Too Much - World Of Buzz 13

15. When they wrap their thumb and finger around your wrist and gasp

14 Things Super Skinny Malaysians Have Heard Way Too Much - World Of Buzz 14

This isn’t exactly a phrase or word but both the gesture and reaction are totally unnecessary. Can you not be so extra?

Yes, sometimes it’s fun to tease people here and there but some jokes are way too old and overused (and even hurtful). Sometimes we say those things out of concern but think of it this way – you may have said it once but they’ve heard it all a gazillion times!

So, if you really care, spare them some sanity by skipping out on all these annoying words and phrases that really drive them crazy. They’re people with feelings too, okay.
