Who else remembers when Mid-Autumn festival is fast approaching? As kids, we get super excited at the thought of lighting tanglungs, playing it with our friends, and ultimately, being able to play with the candles!

If you’ve celebrated the mooncake festival before, here’s a trip down memory lane that will confirm give you nostalgia!

1. Dripping candle wax on your fingers

Are we all masochists since young or what?! Yes, the hot candle wax hurt, but the end result of having wax-crusted fingers overshadowed any pain!

2. Bugging your parents to buy you the most beautiful lantern

The most basic ones we know and love are the iconic paper lanterns that we all used. You can choose the round one, oval one, triangle-shaped one and more!

However, we’d often bug our parents to buy us more imba ones that were made from glass paper. I remember practically begging my mom to get me the fish one!

3. Going on a lantern-stroll with your friends and being careful not to let your lantern catch fire

As kids, we were sooo eager to light our lanterns and carry them around! Aren’t we just the cutest?!

4. Using your bare fingers to extinguish the candle flames

It surprisingly doesn’t hurt. Plus, we loved doing that because it made us feel as if we were real magicians man!

5. Playing with candles and ‘sticking’ them all over the place

We’d wait for the flame to melt enough wax for us to drip it on the ground, then we’d stick the candle on the wax. What kind of sorcery is that right?!

Anyone else created heart shapes?

6. Getting those battery-powered lanterns you used to think were so cool

We all went through that phase of getting toy lanterns that light up with a switch of a button. These can even play music leh!

7. Playing masak-masak (especially with leaves)

Anyone else used tin cans or foil just to play masak-masak? I swear this was the highlight of my night!

8. Playing sparklers and ‘pop pop’

It’s like a package to do this during mooncake festival.

9. Deliberately burning the paper lanterns

We’re all just curious little kids right? Plus, fire seemed so magical to us that we wanted to burn everything we got our hands on. Although we did it, here’s a disclaimer to warn everyone out there to not try this at home!

10. Hurting your poor fingers because your touched the hot metal wire while wanting to adjust the lantern

Andddd after telling yourself to not do it again, your little kiddie mind forgets, AND do it again. Ouch!

11. Last but not least, eating mooncakes!

These were seriously the bomb! Especially the double-yolked lotus mooncakes. If you’re one of the weirdos who don’t like the salted egg yolks then I don’t think we can ever be friends.
