10 Relatable Struggles Every Malaysian With Wanderlust Understands - World Of Buzz 3

So, you’ve entered young adulthood and you’re suddenly hit with the realisation that you’re getting old. You want to experience everything life has to offer, and explore every inch of this vast planet before it’s too late. Of course, everyone craves an adventure, but sadly, many of us face obstacles that prevent us from fulfilling our ever-growing wanderlust. Why is life so hard, lah?!

Well, we decided to compile just a few of those obstacles to show solidarity with our fellow poor wanderlust-struck people. The struggle is real!

1. You find the perfect date to travel but then… you have studies or work

You may have been saving up for a trip for ages, but something last minute always comes up that eats into your schedule, so you have to postpone your travel plans. When will this cycle end?!

2. Opening social media and seeing your friends in ANOTHER foreign country

How are these guys always able to afford to fly all around the world and not become broke? How on earth are they always in a different continent every time we check Instagram?! It’s just not fair, I tell you!

3. Always finding out about a great promo only AFTER the promo ends

How many times have you stumbled across an awesome poster that says something like “A 3D2N hotel+flight to Bangkok for only RM514” BUT REALISED THE BOOKING PERIOD WAS OVER?? Or that everyone had already grabbed the promo and you’re stuck with only the regular (pricier fares) T_T!

Just telling you that here’s something you don’t wanna miss (not before 17 Sept anyway!):

Don’t say we bojio ah!

4. Daydreaming about how much you wish to be the travel bloggers you follow on Instagram

Overcome with wanderlust but you’re broke? Once too often you’d find yourself daydreaming about how great it’d be to be these travel bloggers T_T

5. Getting mini heart attacks every time you see currency exchange rates

We swear, these exchange rates are getting higher and higher with each passing day – especially for our Malaysian Ringgit.

6. Posting #throwback travel photos from the rare times you could afford a trip

You know those times when you get all nostalgic over the one time you visited another country?

Well, at least we made sure to take tonnes of photos from that one trip to last us a lifetime of #throwback posts!

7. Hearing stories from your friends’ travels and trying not to cry

Don’t get us wrong, we’re happy for our friends who do get to see the world, but sometimes, it can feel like a punch in the gut whenever they come back from a holiday and tell you all the amazing things they did (while your broke self sat at home).

8. Suffering that immense, heart wrenching post-travel depression EVERY TIME you come back from a trip

Coming home and getting a slap of reality as you drag yourself to class/work the next day is practically the worst feeling ever. Say hello again to adulthood and responsibilities!

9. Looking at travel promotions, but remembering that you’re broke

Struggling to save money can be a nightmare sometimes, especially if you’re dying to get out of the country and travel! The worst part is that longing feeling you get when you come across a travel fair and realise that you probably can’t afford those promotions anyway.

10. Constantly checking flight ticket prices and hoping to stumble across cheap promotions

You check online from time to time to make sure you don’t miss out on any promotions that are going on. You do this so much you practically know how much a flight to destinations cost on average!
