If you want the perfect place for #OOTD pictures, then you absolutely have to make your way to Kaya-kaya Cafe.

With rattan chairs, wooden tables, a spiral staircase and a huge courtyard in the middle of the shop, how can you not take amazing pictures here?

If you like a 1950’s posh makan place, then Locahouz is the place to be. The cafe offers an ‘organised mess’ as their decor is arranged neatly, yet the amount of paintings and trinkets are somewhat overwhelming.

You can sense the atas-ness of this cafe thanks to the many family heirlooms decorating each corner inside. You will definitely feel like a rich person at home in that era.

Meanwhile, the food is also pretty unique as their menu contains items like ‘orange beer’ and ‘pork belly with homemade hot sauce’. Sounds like a yummy meal!

If checking out some pretty old and outdated stuff is your favourite pastime, then you absolutely have to visit Sayyid Antique & Cafe!

Once upon a time, it was both an antique shop selling precious old treasures to avid collectors and a clean, lovely cafe.

Now, this vintage venue has become many people’s favourite makan spot!

4. Mods Cafe

If the ’50s and ’60s are your favourite eras and the Volkswagen Transporter is the car you admire most, then bookmark this cafe!

They’ve modded the retro microbus into a cool coffee bar while the rest of the cafe is filled with wonderful nostalgic automobile-themed decor. Best part is, the old Volkswagen is still running!

The only downside? They don’t exactly have a signboard but their name is carved onto the two pillars at the entrance. So you’ll need to keep an eye out when looking for this establishment.

Looking for a quiet kopitiam-like cafe? Alley No. 5 will be up your alley! Though this cafe may be a bit hard to find, you’ll realise how it’s totally worth searching for once you’re there, due to its peaceful ambience.

This place is so calm that have you’d have thought you were living back in the early 1900’s where the busy city life didn’t exist. Also, they have an adorable in-house cat you can play with!

Even though this cafe isn’t air-conditioned, it’s still ideal for chilling out after a long walk around Jonker Street.

6. Calanthe Art Cafe

Calanthe Art Cafe is dubbed one of the most Instagram-worthy eateries in Malacca. Well, judging from its beautifully decorated interior featuring wooden and rattan furniture from the ’50s to ’90s, we wouldn’t be surprised!

They even have a special wall where they stuck a bunch of old kitchenware that exudes a truly breathtaking vibe.

Like most of the structures in Jonker, this cafe has also got a very well-lit courtyard where you can snap your #OOTD non-stop.

7. Baboon House

If you want to monkey around with friends whilst having a hearty meal, consider hanging out at Baboon House for its pretty cool decor that fuses a rugged hipster charm and an old school Malaccan straits feel.

The downside to this cafe is that you’re STRICTLY not allowed to take any photos inside, not even selfies or wefies. Aww, how to show off my #OOTD liddat?

However, this is absolutely one of those places you just have to visit and experience for yourself. Anyone who’s ever been here highly recommends dropping by! Probably because pictures just won’t do it justice.

8. River View Cafe

Just like its name, this cafe offers a spectacular view of the Malacca river. It is a bit further from the main tourist spots so you can definitely chillax here, away from all the hustle and bustle.

Though its interior has got a beautiful baba nyonya theme to it, the highlight is actually the exterior’s ultra relaxing vibe.

You can even sit by the river bank and sip on coffee to melt your stress away. After that, you could stroll along the river bank to take in the olden-day look and feel.

9. RainForest Coffee Bean

Ever wondered how rich Chinese families dined back in the ’70s? Get a feel of it right here at RainForest Coffee Bean where the furniture itself will instantly transport you back to that era.

The cafe is filled with Chinese idols as well, all made of solid wood, just like the rest of the establishment. Although the place oozes a super old school feel, fret not because the flavours are fine-tuned to match today’s taste buds!

All the food and beverages served here are top notch and absolutely delectable, so make this a must-visit!

Have you ever had an antique sewing table as your dining table? Well, it’s totally possible at the Daily Fix Cafe. In fact, they even have furniture that are way older than millennials but very well maintained and still sturdy.

Moreover, there’s a well (sealed up for safety purposes) right inside the courtyard!

With rattan chairs, beautiful peranakan-style trays and tiffin carriers, you’ll feel like either a baba or nyonya back in the ’70s.
