Zoo Negara has to be frugal in their operating costs as their financial resources are quickly running low and it could only last until April.
The Zoo Negara deputy President Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana, as reported by Harian Metro, said that at the moment, Zoo Negara is still able to cover operating costs including animal feed as well as employee salaries.
However, the current funds are only sufficient for operating costs until the end of MCO which is supposed to be on February 18. He said,
“Zoo Negara will face financial problems if the MCO is extended even longer. We have to appeal to the government to operate or find other means to continue operating.”
Rosly also revealed that Zoo Negara has received fewer donations since MCO 2.0 was introduced, compared to the first MCO last year.
