With the alarming increase in animal abuse cases that have made headlines recently, it’s nice to see these well-meaning Malaysians looking out for the welfare of a stray animal!

Just yesterday (25th September), a video that was uploaded on Facebook shows two young Malaysians who spotted a puppy sleeping in the middle of a parking lot reportedly near Sunway Pyramid and decided to move it to a safer spot to protect it from potentially getting run over by passing cars.

The young men, who were Muslim, tried placing the puppy on a piece of cardboard by carrying it using a plastic bag to protect their hands. However, as they tried lifting the puppy to safety, it woke up and began yelping.

It was then when the puppy’s mother ran out from behind a nearby car, barking at the youths, causing them to immediately run away and the video to abruptly cut off.

The video quickly gained over 57,000 shares in under 24 hours, and many users were worried about the youths who attempted to help the puppy, wondering if the mother had attacked them.

Luckily, they escaped unharmed, according to user Syed Izamin Syed Putra, who posted the video. Phew!

Well, lesson learnt! Never approach a puppy or kitten unless you’re sure its mother is nowhere to be found!
