Whatsapp is probably one of the most used application by people of all ages around the world! From our atuks and neneks sending us “watapps news” to our younger relatives texting us unintelligible emojis and messages, Whatsapp is truly one of the most flexible application to ever exist.
However, during this quarantine/ lockdown period, a lot of us have discovered that Whatsapp has a flaw. That flaw is not being able to video call more than four people (including you) at once. Over time, they managed to upgrade it to eight people in one video call but it is still not enough to fight against other players out thre.
To combat that, WABeta Info has said that Whatsapp will soon be able to host up to 50 users in one video call by using a shortcut to Facebook Messenger Rooms!
This feature is currently being tested out by beta testers.
This is how it will work:
- When you want to call a group of fewer than 50 people, there will be an option that you can choose in the Whatsapp chat room.
- From there, you will be directed to Facebook Messenger Rooms to create a room.
- The chats in the invite-only room will be protected by its encryption and privacy controls.
If you do not have a Facebook or Whatsapp account, there’s no need to fret. You can join by the link sent to you by your friends!
It is not known when this feature will be introduced yet but it will be available in the future for iOS, Android and WhatsApp Web.
Now we don’t have to download a few different video calling applications just to stay connected to our friends and family! How awesome is that!
