Good news, guys, the Obamas (yes, both Michelle and Barack) are coming to Malaysia!
The Star reported that former US president and his wife, Michelle Obama will be in Malaysia to speak at the Obama Foundation’s inaugural Asia Pacific leaders’ gathering this December 2019.
This gathering will be attended by nearly 200 upcoming leaders from Asia Pacific countries as “part of a year-long programme focused on values-based, ethical leadership”.
Chief International Officer of the Obama Foundation, Bernadette Meehan said that,
“The Asia Pacific region holds a deep well of talented and passionate emerging leaders, and it is a region of great importance to President Obama given his strong roots in Indonesia and Hawai’i.”
“This programme will build upon the community organising legacy of the Obamas, with a focus on shared values and ethical leadership, and we are excited to embark on a year-long programme to empower these leaders to tackle the unique challenges they face in their communities.”
The gathering is supposed to be a representation of young leaders and their dedication to the Asia Pacific region. Therefore, the Obama Foundation believes that these young leaders will impact their communities greatly through the community work that they do.
Not only that, but the conference will also include young leaders whose main activism goals are girls’ education and empowerment. Nice!
So, this amazing gathering will happen on 10th to 14th December 2019 in KL but the location and the timing of the gathering are still yet to be revealed. So do keep an eye out for more information on the matter!
