A 44-year-old married man from KL identified as Wong recently became the victim of extortion after he befriended a Filipino woman on Facebook.
Wong reportedly became friends with the woman, named Jia Inarisi, in March, and they soon began to chat online, according to The Star. Wong addressed his side of the story at a press conference hosted by the head of MCA’s Public Services and Complaints Department, Datuk Seri Michael Chong.
The 44-year-old administrative clerk explained that Jia invited him to chat with her. They chatted normally during their first conversation, but during their second chat, she took off her clothes and showed herself in the nude. He was quoted as saying,
“She said she wanted to see me in the nude and asked me to get naked in the video call. She then requested that I masturbate during the video call, and I did what she requested.”
However, Jia then revealed to Wong that their video chat had been recorded and proceeded to send him a video of himself masturbating, threatening to upload the recording to YouTube and send it to all of his Facebook friends.
“The woman kept demanding money. At first, it was RM500. Now she is demanding RM1,000. I regret my action. But I think I should face up to it.”
Wong ended up paying RM3,200 through six bank transactions made to several accounts in the Philippines on the 22nd of March and 21st of April 2019. The 44-year-old then sought the assistance of Datuk Seri Michael Chong and filed a police report. Chong added during the press conference,
“He should not continue paying the woman. This will never end. Let the police to investigate. As of April this year, there have been five cases reported to me, involving a total amount of RM99,305.”
Let’s hope the authorities thoroughly investigate this case and hope no other people will be affected by this!
