With the state elections finally ending and the endless toll of work that seems to have dwindled down, it’s a good time for many of us to go and touch grass.
It seems that the perfect opportunity has presented itself as Planetarium Negara has announced that the Perseids meteor shower will be at its peak from 13 August to 14 August.
This meteor shower phenomenon actually started on 17 July and will end by 24 August and tonight will be when the shower will reach a maximum rate of 110 meteors per hour or almost 2 meteors per minute.
This phenomenon will start at 9pm on 13 August and will last until the early morning of 14 August.
Astronomical phenomena such as this meteor shower may be tricky to view from cities where there is a high amount of light pollution, so the Planetarium has advised Malaysians to go and enjoy the meteor shower in a dark place that is far from light pollution.
Other than that, it is also a good idea to check up on the weather at the Malaysian Meteorological Department as it will be easier to see when the skies are clear and without any rain.
