Taking to TikTok, Harold’s Bread, a well-known bakery has issued a press statement following a complaint from a customer who claimed to have found a rat in one of their products.

The incident reportedly took place at the bakery’s Taiping branch on Friday, 15 August 2025, after images were posted online at around 11 pm.

In the post, the netizen wrote, “I am seeking an explanation from Harold’s Bread at A**N Taiping should anything happen to my father.”

“He bit into some bread only to find that there was a rat in it. I am reporting this to the authorities.”

Harold’s Bread has since responded to the incident.

“We would like to apologise to our customers for the anxiety and concern caused following the viral spread of the post on social media.”

“Within less than 24 hours, officers from the Ministry of Health (KKM) inspected our store at AEON Taiping. They verified that our bread production process adheres to food safety standards that we practise. No signs of rodent infestation were detected at the premises.”

“KKM confirmed that there was no obstacle for us to resume operations the next morning.”

Netizens continued to raise questions about the issue.

“This seems illogical. Bread is baked fresh daily. How could the animal not have any burn marks? I’m an ex-staff, by the way.”

“What astounds me is that I work next door. Everything can be seen through their glass window. If there are leftovers at night, they throw them out,” said a user.
