Every working class in every field has their own way of contributing to society, and regardless of one’s background and identity, everyone deserves respect. A girl who works at a Shell station in Penang recently highlighted the importance of respect in one of her TikTok posts, following an argument with a customer that revolved around a misunderstanding about Bonuslink.
Here’s what happened.
The girl, Kayshita said that a man approached her and asked to fill up points in his Bonuslink card, to which she politely told the man, “You need to scan or swipe the card, then fill up the gas before you can get the points“. But he disagreed and told Kayshita that he could just get the points back in KL.
“Can you understand simple English?”
Once again, Kay politely told the man that she couldn’t do so, and the procedure for obtaining points remains the same regardless of where he is. The man was not happy with that. He then asked Kay,
“Can you understand my simple English?”
In the video, Kay said, “Of course I understood that man! I got Band 5 for MUET“. She then expressed that she was merely following protocol and there was no reason for her to stop anyone from redeeming their points. However, she couldn’t deny how hurtful the man’s words were.
“I almost cried. He talked to me as if I am uneducated. I know this is 1 of the challenges of working here, but we’re not stupid and please respect us,” Kay expressed.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Kay said that the man was rude to her despite her multiple attempts in explaining to him the procedure for obtaining points.
“He kept pushing me and told me that we can do so, and claimed that he works with Bonuslink.”
Kay added that the man said he was going to report her to the HQ and even said to her, “What do you know, right?”
“I’m not scared if he really reports me”
Kay also told WORLD OF BUZZ that it saddened her to see how the ignorant man refused to listen and assumed that she knew nothing.
“Just because I was in my uniform, he assumed I was a regular staff and refused to listen to my explanation. He left the scene and stared at all of us.”
As regards the man’s decision of bringing the matter to HQ, Kay insisted that she knew she was doing the right thing, and she was not afraid if the matter is brought to the higher-ups.
“I knew I wasn’t at fault. I had to defend myself and the rules we have. If he really works with the company, he should understand the rules and procedures too,” Kay told WORLD OF BUZZ.

Kay’s patience and politeness truly did not deserve such an insulting response. We hope that everyone with customer-facing jobs can stay strong with all the challenges they face on a daily basis.
