As if the traffic in Klang Valley is not hectic enough, road closure during peak hours when citizens are traveling to work is definitely a test of patience.
Just this morning (January 5), part of the road in Jalan Travers, Bangsar was closed due to pavement work, and it’s only natural for the road users to get irritated as it’s usually the time when people commute to work. Road closure during peak hours elevates the possibility of being late, and a video of an annoyed driver has since gone viral on social media this morning.
The video shows the right lane on Jalan Travers being closed as the driver slowly shifted to the middle lane while saying,
“Why are you guys paving the road at this hour?”
Lecture time, contractors!
On the same morning, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) responded to the matter via a Facebook post, and they are NOT happy about it. DBKL admitted that those contractors were hired by the organisation themselves, but DBKL assured the people that the contractors will not be spared from the “lecture” that they are bound to receive.
DBKL said that the contractors should’ve taken into consideration the timing and consequences of paving the road during peak hours.
“We know you want to finish the job as soon as possible, but not without thinking about the road users.”
DBKL also revealed that the working schedule for the road pavement has been given to the contractors, and said that the contractors should be ready to be called by DBKL officers.
“The involved contractors will be lectured soon,” DBKL assured.
At the end of the post, DBKL also apologised for the inconvenience caused to the road users who were stuck in heavy traffic at Jalan Travers.
APAHAL LA TIME NI GI BUAT KERJA TURAP???♂️Pagi ni Min terima satu hantaran dari sahabat Min, dia ni pun kerja DBKL juga.. ni pasal kontraktor-kontraktor yang dilantik oleh DBKL untuk laksanakan kerja-kerja turapan jalan. Tau la nak cepat..tapi tu lah.. timing buat kerja langsung tak fikir orang lain padahal dah dimaklumkan waktu kerja yang sepatutnya.

As road users, we are certainly happy to see the roads are being fixed for better experience and safety of the drivers, but we’re sure that no one appreciates road closure during peak hours when punctuality to work shouldn’t be taken lightly.
