Amid the ongoing investigation into GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), many online users have jumped on the chance to create viral parody videos featuring songs about the company. These viral videos have caught the attention of not just netizens but also MCMC.
In response, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is actively monitoring social media content related to GISBH, including these viral song parodies.
“We urge the public to listen to authorities’ advice”
MalaysiaGazette TV reported that Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching said that her ministry will work closely with relevant agencies responsible for investigating the group if there is a request.
She explained that one of the steps they could take is to remove the parody posts, and at the same time, she’s asking the public to listen to advice from authorities like JAKIM, the police, and others.
“We will take action”
Recently, songs performed by members of the group, including those involving the founder of Al-Arqam, went viral on social media, gaining attention from many around the country.
When Nie Ching was asked to comment on the public’s actions of turning issues involving GISBH into parodies or jokes on various social media platforms, she said,
“If we receive any reports on the matter, we will take action”
