Ever since the parliament was dissolved, many politicians have come out and started giving speeches in public areas.
On 16 October, former youth minister Syed Saddiq was giving a speech in Muar when he got heckled by a group of “mat motor”.
In his speech that was livestreamed, you can hear him talking about how MUDA gave food baskets to those who were affected by the pandemic in Muar. However, many who were at the side of the tent shouted that he is a “penipu” repeatedly.
This angered the MUDA co-founder and he went closer to tell them that there is picture proof that they gave help.
“The people who investigate me are the police. I am not scared, I will defend the residents of Muar and not those who are corrupt!”
He elaborated that this heckling is normal and is commonly used by BN/UMNO.
Chaos erupted and many MUDA supporters stood on the sidelines. Syed Saddiq then asked the youths out there to not be disparagers.
“This is our country that will defend your fathers and relatives. Until when do we need to be bought? Until when do we want to sell our dignity?”
The group of “mat motor” was then shooed away by the police.
The vice president of MUDA, Mutalib Uthman has said that the group of young men were silent during the prior speakers’ speeches, reported Sinar Harian. However, when Syed Saddiq began his speech, they started to get rowdy.
“They attempted to get into the canopies but were stopped by the police and volunteers. When they left, they still provoked us by revving their motor engines during Syed Saddiq’s speech.”
You can watch the chaos here.
It is understood that the MUDA team in Muar will be lodging a police report on this incident as tweeted by Amira Aisya who is the ADUN of Puteri Wangsa.
