Claw machines are popular in countries like Japan, China and Taiwan, and people who are skilled are able to bag tons of goodies home! And if you don’t have the secret to winning these goodies, then you’d end up like the rest of us – losing a lot of money 😛
While the rewards in these claw machines range from plushies to limited action figures, a recent video sparked outrage on the internet.
On 9 May, a video was uploaded by a biologist, @DanBiologist, showing white, fluffy puppies inside a claw machine!
Here’s the video:
Although Dan’s tweet claimed that this claw machine is in Japan, Twitter users pointed out that it actually happened in China because Chinese words are seen on the machine which wrote, “Please bring me home”.
In the video, around 10 puppies can be seen crowding the tight space, and most of them were standing on their hind legs. The puppies looked confused and they were frantically trying to escape.
The person who took this video even edited it with a cute background music to make the claw game seem adorable. However, the horrible fact is that it’s animal cruelty, and it’s not cute.
The puppies were placed in separate colourful buckets, and people are “supposed” to pull them out with the claw.
PETA has also made its stance on Twitter:
They’ve also condemned the use of real animals as prize gifts, saying,
“Animals are not arcade games.”
Netizens were enraged upon seeing the video, commenting that this idea is unacceptable and inhumane.
Some of them doubted that the puppies are real, as they saw “mechanical movements” in the puppies. We personally think it’s still the real deal.
We’re not sure about the credibility of this video as this could be a setup. Whether it’s true or not, this idea is utterly inhumane and cruel.
Animals aren’t toys, guys.
