When you get into an accident with another vehicle, the first thing that comes to mind is to get angry and blame the other road user for their fault in the accident.
This can often lead to bust ups and violent and aggressive interactions between all of the parties.
However, sometimes, it might be best to just let things go, especially if it is nothing too serious.
In a video which has gone viral on TikTok, the driver of a Toyota Vellfire showed how he was involved in a minor accident with a food delivery rider.
The MPV driver known as Andrew Cheah, took to his TikTok to share the video of the incident. After colliding with the food delivery rider, Andrew immediately got out of his car to check on the damage.
He discovered that a section of his car’s skirting was dislodged. The food delivery rider had also pulled over and parked his vehicle.
Much to the surprise of Andrew, the rider apologised for his fault in the accident.
Andrew then asked the young man, “Why didn’t you run away?” to which he replied, “I was the one who’s at fault, so how could I run away?”
He proceeded to apologise to Andrew and offered to pay for any damage caused by the collision.
When asked on how much he wants to pay him, the rider told Andrew that he’ll let him decide.
During their conversation, Andrew also asked him about his income and also his age.
The delivery rider then shared that he was earning RM80 a day and that he was only 19 years old. He also revealed that he’s been working as a rider since after the Raya season.
Seemingly moved by his replies, Andrew decided to let the young man go. “It’s okay. Don’t worry,” Andrew told him, as he was seen being hesitant in leaving.
Heartwarming interaction
The video has gone viral on TikTok and currently sits on over 4.3 million views. Netizens took to the comments section to praise both Andrew and the food rider for handling the situation so politely.
“I’m saying thank you on behalf of the rider. Hoping that you’re blessed with an abundance of opportunities.”
“The best. I hope that your humility will serve as an example to all the other rich people,” said a user.
Meanwhile, the video has even captured the attention of actress Fasha Sandha who said through a post on her Instagram that she wishes to buy a gift for the delivery rider.
“If you’re reading this, please comment or drop a DM on my page (this little brother should be a good example for fellow motorcyclists on the road),” wrote the local star.
She also complimented Andrew for his humility and for not making the food delivery rider have to compensate him for his fault in the crash.
