It’s never easy to part with someone you love but when it happens between two people who love each other deeply and are preparing to get married, it’s even more heartbreaking. A tragic road accident happened in Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh that caused a loving couple to be separated forever.
According to Nguoi Dua Tin, a young couple who had been together for many years had decided to get married in September this year. The man, Dang Thien An and his fiancee who were both 25 years old, had been working in Japan together.
She had gone back to Vietnam to arrange their wedding on 29th September, but they did not realise that their parting in Japan would be their last goodbye. On 25th August, the girl had been riding a scooter down the road when she spotted a large puddle of water and braked to avoid it.
Unfortunately, a car that was going the opposite direction could not manage to stop in time and crashed into her. Her family members in the area were quickly informed of the accident but the girl tragically died at the scene. One of the passersby shared the incident via livestream on Facebook, warning everyone to use another route as the accident had caused a massive traffic jam.
It was during this time that Dang noticed the livestream and saw that the body looked like his beloved fiancee. He quickly asked the netizen for more information and was devastated when it was confirmed. He quickly booked his flight back to Vietnam and announced on his Facebook page, “The wedding will be held at 10pm tonight instead. Hope everyone can spare some time for our wedding as I bid farewell to my wife.”
The post went viral, with many people offering their condolences. Meanwhile, friends and family alike gathered at the victim’s home to witness the heartbreaking wedding between two souls that were separated forever. During the “wedding” ceremony, Dang appeared calm and in control, until his mother hugged him and he broke down.
Dang knelt down in front of his fiancee’s coffin with a bouquet of flowers and held out a jewellery box with the rings that they were supposed to exchange on their wedding day. He wore his ring and said, “I had originally planned to sing to you at our wedding but I can only sing it to you now. I want to hold my wedding ceremony with you now.”
He turned to the crowd and said that he was going to sing, and hoped that they would not mind as he had been practicing for his fiancee. He sang Michael Wong’s “Tong Hua” or Fairytale, a sad love song about two lovers. His moving performance brought tears to the eyes of the audience.
Dang said, “My wife is the best person I have ever met and I will try my best to live well without her. She told me she loves thin necklaces but I know she said that only because she doesn’t want me to waste money on her. I have always worked hard to give her everything she wants and I will continue to do so.”
He placed a necklace he had bought for her beside her photo and said, “A friend said God must have had an urgent reason to call you home so soon and I agree because if not, you would have waited another 32 days for me to come. It’s okay, you go to heaven first and wait for me, I will stay behind and try to live well.” The couple had planned to move back to Japan where Dang was based after the wedding.
