In their TikTok account, @ioicitymallmy shared a video of their social experiment with the caption, “Tell us you’re Malaysian, without telling us you’re Malaysian.”
Playing the national anthem on their speakers, hidden cameras were placed at multiple locations to see how Malaysians would react to it.
Normally, we would always stand at attention and most probably would sing along, and Malaysians did not disappoint. Here’s what their reactions were when the trumpets began.
A few patrons who were sitting on benches began standing up. Some even forced their friends to stand and pay respect to the national anthem.
“Hey, stand up.”
In another video, a family was spotted proudly singing along.
While others were confused about why everyone was standing still, this group of skaters even got in line and sang.
Good job, kids!
To us, this was defo a social experiment success.
What a way to celebrate our Independence Month, eh?
