After the third Covid-19 wave hit Malaysia, the situation in the country has been the worst it has ever been and frontliners have been working tirelessly day and night to treat patients who have been affected.
To show appreciation to the frontliners who have been discharged from their duties in screening and testing the inmates at the Tembok Cluster in Alor Setar Prison, the inmates performed a song as a token of gratitude towards the frontliners.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah shared a video on his Facebook account showing the gates of the Alor Setar Prison opening as dozens of frontliners walked out while being serenaded by the voices of the inmates there.
The inmates had sung the song titled ‘Doa Wira Negara’ by Harry Khalifah as a dedication to the frontliners from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
A representative of the MOH frontline team shared on his Facebook that the memories made at the prison will not be forgotten forever.
“Alhamdulillah, the end of duty here, the closure of Alor Setar Prison. All memories will never be forgotten,” he said.
“They have a lot of respect for us, they have given us very good cooperation while we were there.”
According to Harian Metro, the prison which holds about 1,800 inmates was previously subject to the Targeted Enhanced Control Movement Order (TEMCO) starting 6 October after an increase in positive Covid-19 cases in the area.
This is such a touching sight to see. Our frontliners truly are our heroes during this trying time and we owe so much to the ones who have put their lives on the line to ensure that Covid-19 patients are well taken care of.
