Whenever a foreign national comes by to Malaysia to either visit or start a new life here, there is a little bit of a need for them to adapt and get used to our culture, food and everything else.
Due to this, certain things could come as a culture shock to them as they attempt to settle in.
Recently, a TikTok video by an Indonesian national living in Malaysia went viral after she expressed her surprise that motorcycles were allowed on Malaysian highways.
In a TikTok video which has gone viral, @giannovie wrote, “One thing that I’m still surprised with here in KL… (is that) motorcycles can enter the highway.”
She said that it is because in Indonesia, motorcycles are not allowed to enter highways at all.
How does it work??
In another video, she clarified that in Indonesia, motorcycles are allowed on main roads, however, they are simply not allowed on highways with tolls.
She also shared that the main reason behind this is that in Indonesia, there are more motorcycles than cars on the road, whilst in Malaysia, there appears to be more cars as compared to motorcycles.
Nevertheless, netizens were surprised to find out that motorcycles are not allowed on tolled highways in Indonesia as in our country, not only are they allowed to use the highway, they also don’t have to pay for tolls!
Meanwhile, some users made jokes about her surprise and said that she hasn’t even seen those motorcyclists who perform stunts on the highways.
“Wait till you find superman on (the) highway.”
