Paris Olympics athletes have worked tirelessly to prepare for the games. But, like anyone, working too hard can take a toll and affect them eventually.
Triathlon athlete Tyler Mislawchuk was seen on live TV vomiting intensely after crossing the finish line following the 1.5km swim in his Olympic event.
Officials deemed the water quality acceptable for Wednesday’s triathlon
According to TMZ, triathletes participated in both water and land events despite the Paris Olympics facing criticism over the cleanliness of the Seine River, which was found to have high levels of E. coli and other bacteria.
Canadian triathlete Mislawchuk finished the race, which included a 40km bike ride, a 10km run, and a 1.5km swim in the Seine River.
However, upon crossing the finish line, he immediately vomited due to the water’s cleanliness, while his opponents were also seen dropped to the ground in exhaustion.
He puked 10 times
Mislawchuk, who finished 9th, reported that he vomited 10 times immediately after crossing the finish line.
He also shared that he had struggled with injuries over the past few years and was determined to do everything possible to make it to his 3rd Olympics.
“I’ve come back from an Achilles tear, a concussion, crashes, everything you can think of in the last 3 years. To stand on the starting line healthy and give it my all. I’m proud of the effort. But that’s all I had in me,” he said.
