How far will people go just to gain fame on social media.
The power of social media has been a great help these past few weeks as it has allowed people to spread information and act quickly.
However, when someone does something wrong in the eyes of netizens, they better be prepared to receive backlash from all fronts.
Recently, a video of a boy “cooking” instant noodles in a hotel sink went viral on Twitter after it received plenty of backlash because of how disgusting it was.
The video which was originally posted on TikTok, was reposted by a Twitter account after being taken down by the owner after receiving backlash from netizens.
In the video, a group of boys can be seen in a hotel room in KL. A boy then can be seen in the washroom, “cooking” ramen in the sink of the hotel room.
2 chunks of uncooked ramen were swimming in a pool of seasoned water which was in the toilet sink, right next to the toilet bowl.
Twitter users are beyond disgusted!
The tweet has amassed more than 690,000 views and 4,909 retweets. Users took to the comments section to express how disgusted they were by what they had just witnessed.
“My day has been doing so fine and then I see this.”
Many called out the group for being disgusting and stupid, whilst a user told them to keep their stupidity to themselves.
“You guys do this and still worry about what’s in the vaccine,” said another user.
The things people do for content
Some Twitter users believe that the video was done only for the purposes of content and that the group of boys would not actually eat the possibly-contaminated ramen.
“I bet they didn’t even eat the Maggi. Mainly just for content.”
Another user questioned how they were able to afford the hotel, but could not even pay for a cup of instant noodles.
“My maggiphillia can’t handle this. For the sake of content, the Maggi has gone to a waste,” said a user.
Maggi cups exist for a reason
Netizens also pointed out that Maggi cup was created for this exact reason.
“They advertised Maggi cup for situations like this. Please don’t be stupid.”
One user even made a meme out of it!
Reminder from housekeeping
After watching the video, a couple of Twitter users who used to work as housekeeping for hotels, described how filthy a hotel room’s sink really is.
“Usually the sink will be the last thing we clean AND we use the same exact cloth to wipe the toilet bowl and sink. That’s just the way we clean it.”
Another user pointed out that they also use harsh chemicals when cleaning and disinfecting the toilet.
