Many members of the government have been accused of taking advantage of the recent flash floods and treating it as a publicity stunt.

A video of Datuk Seri Rina Harun using a water jet on a “clean” area recently drew backlash.

Now, a video clip featuring Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has gone viral on social media. He was seen to be posing with a shovel during a clean up operation in a flood-hit area.

Netizens express their anger over the video clip

Although the original source of the video has not been verified, Malaysians took to social media to express their disappointment.

One user said that if the Prime Minister and Ministers are not sincerely helping and are merely doing it for a show, they should not bother coming to any flood sites in the first place.

Another said, “It’s looks like the time where everyone is entertaining the little child who’s playing with dirt for the first time.”
