An American travel YouTuber who recently visited Singapore posted a video detailing 7 things about the country that shocked him, with the 7th point being really unexpected and something we don’t think other travellers have pointed out.
Get this, the traveller, Noah, more known by his YouTube handle Wanderlust Wellman said that he and his wife Vanessa were shocked to find that Singaporeans like to pick their nose in public openly!
In the video, Noah said that this was their first time ever visiting Singapore, with the other 6 points in the list being rather standard and something you’d expect from a Westerner visiting the island state for the first time.
These include the heat and humidity, green everywhere, the public transport, diverse multi-culture, affordability and the Gardens by the Bay.
As for the public nose-picking, Noah clarified that this was something that his wife had first noticed, claiming that apparently picking your nose in public is not that “big of a no no” in Singapore compared to in America or in the West.
Noah further shared that Vanessa noticed Singaporeans picking their noses openly on several occasions. He noted that it seems that people don’t hide or have the same shame of doing it as they do in the West, where it’s socially forbidden.
The traveller then said that this was definitely a shocker and not in a good way. However, given that the other 6 shockers are good, Singapore is doing pretty well in Noah’s books.
