Penang is known for its beautiful street art, amazing architecture and delicious food which is famous around the world and has already garnered much international recognition.

Now, Penang has done it again and made it into the top 10 “Great Value Beach Destinations Around The World”, according to The Star.

This ranking was done by US-based website, International Living, who ranked Penang at the eighth spot as a place of great value for visiting and living, which means we’re pretty pocket-friendly.

International Living is a monthly issue that looks at global retirement and relocation options. They described Penang as a modest tropical island over peninsular Malaysia’s west coast.

International Living also mentioned that Penang has been one of the most popular expat locations in Malaysia for years. The beaches, shopping experience, great food and lively culture are some of the attractions that draw tourists to Penang.

The website also stated that Penang is full of cultural diversity and the food is said to be “the best in all South-East Asia.” Can’t deny that!

“It is not a bustling city like Kuala Lumpur, yet it still has all the comforts of home,” added International Living in their website.

In Penang, expats and foreigners can get a fulfilling meal for less than US$5 (RM20.56). Another appealing factor about Penang for expats and foreigners is that a couple can rent and live comfortably for around US$1,455 (RM5,982.23) per month.

International Living listed Salinas in Ecuador, Pedasi in Panama and Bocas del Toro in Panama as the three most great value beach destinations in the world. There were a total of 21 destinations that were listed.

It’s so amazing that Malaysia is receiving international acclaim! Congrats Penang!
