Lol! Well this claim is quite a laugh!

A popular media brand from the US, Tastemade Travel released a video recently, saying that Singaporeans are chewing on dried cuttlefish as an ALTERNATIVE to gum since the country has banned it.

The video highlights that chewing on these cuttlefish shreds is a “weird gum alternative” and it “won’t freshen your breath”.

Understandably, Singaporean netizens were not amused with the post.

“I just got dumber watching that video,” one wrote.

“Did they go to a parallel universe Singapore? It happens sometimes when you forget to convert your flight trajectory from Freedom Units to Metric,” another netizen commented.

A few commentors pointed out that the Americans probably made that assumption because of how Ken Ken marketed their dried cuttlefish.

“Apparently, that’s how it was marketed by Ken Ken Food Manufacturing Pte Ltd. To this day the product still contains the tagline – “”Chewing-Gum” of the Orientals,” someone said.

Well, either way, it doesn’t hurt doing a little of research before simply “educating” people on another country’s culture!
