Police investigating the incident
Meanwhile, Pontian District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohamad Shofee Tayib, said police had detected a social media post about the incident, which took place in front of a furniture shop on Jalan Besar, Pekan Nanas.
āInvestigations at the scene found that the flag had already been taken down during the inspection. The driver, a 44-year-old man, along with the vehicle, was brought to the Pontian District Police Headquarters (IPD) to assist in the investigation,ā he said in a statement on Sunday.

āThe case is being investigated under Section 5 of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1963 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955,ā he said.
Mohamad Shofee also advised the public not to speculate or spread provocative statements about the incident until investigations are complete.
āThe police also remind all agencies, business premises, and individuals to ensure the Jalur Gemilang is displayed according to proper guidelines and protocols as a mark of respect for national sovereignty,ā he added.
