By now, many would know that a Malaysian man had fired 2 shots at his wife at 1:30 am in the Arrival Hall at KLIA 1.
One of the shots missed and the other hit the woman’s bodyguard who is now in an induced coma and is being treated at the hospital.
In an update by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Shuhaily Mohd Zain, he described the situation that unfolded before the shooting.
It is said that the suspect had thrown a firecracker and 2 civilians were injured. After that, he fired 2 shots about 3-4 meters away; one of the shots hit her bodyguard in the stomach and he is now in critical condition.
Regarding his background, the suspect has 3 past criminal records, 2 of which were lodged by his wife for harassment.
“His wife had lodged 2 police reports due to the harassment she received from him, once in 2016 and another in 2023.”
When asked if the couple was in the midst of a divorce, Shuhaily said they believed that was the situation. In addition to that, the woman had hired 2 bodyguards after the harassment case in December 2023.
Before this, he also had a record of theft and pretending to be a civil servant.
Shuhaily added that the suspect had probably gotten the firearm illegally as he did not have a permit to do so.
The police have urged members of the public to be on the lookout as the suspect is still at large. Hence, if anyone spots him, they should contact the police immediately and NOT take action on their own as he has a gun.
