There’s a reason why RSVP to an event is important, particularly a wedding. This will allow the organisers to arrange the seats according to the RSVP, and estimate the amount of food to prepare.
A Malaysian singer, Jacqueline Ng recently held a wedding in KL and we wanted to say that the wedding went smoothly, but that was not entirely the case. A number of uninvited guests crashed the wedding to feast on the food and caused the guests who RSVP’ed earlier to be left without seats. On her viral FB post, Jacqueline vented her anger towards the uninvited guests, who were mostly uncles and aunties who crashed the wedding for free food.
“Hello, I’m the bride’s neighbour!”, “No, I am!”
Jacqueline described the wedding crashers as “shameless”, and said they had ALMOST ruined the wedding due to the chaotic situation when several guests had their seats occupied by the crashers. She said that one of the uncles pretended to be her neighbour, who was then “exposed” by Jacqueline’s real neighbour.
What a coincidence! When that should have been his cue to leave the scene, the uncle walked to another table instead and continued eating.
A day after the wedding, Jacqueline received texts from her friends who asked about the “uncles and aunties” who were assigned to their table. The friends suspected the uncles and aunties were there uninvited and they had their eyes on the “free food”.
This angered Jacqueline even more, which prompted her to viral the matter.
“If you don’t have money to eat, tell me. I can treat you to a meal but please don’t come uninvited! The seats were taken and I couldn’t serve some of the guests properly!”
Jacqueline also said that she did not manage to take all of their pictures.
Fortunately, Jacqueline found an extra table at the wedding hall which could accommodate the guests who RSVP’ed. We cannot begin to imagine if the guests came all the way in elegant outfits only to be left “stranded” without seats.
“I’m not being stingy but the wedding crashers took the seats of those who RSVP’ed!”
If this happens at your wedding, will you chase them away, or allow them to stay?
