Two lorries full of dogs were found locked up and held behind the Kajang MRT station on 22 September.

These poor creatures were held in cramped conditions, surrounded by their own waste, and were left unattended for an unknown period of time. It is also unknown as to whether they are being fed to stay alive.

Unfortunately, according to a post on Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue’s (MIAR) page, this isn’t the first time Majlis Perbandaran Kajang (MPKJ) has treated strays this way. “MIAR questioned an officer named Nazri on February 2020 and he said they were only going to be held temporarily but those were all lies.”

The association went on to say that they are “sick and tired of MPKJ keeping dogs locked up” in such conditions and urge the public to help take action by raising awareness about the issue to media portals and local councils.

“No one is above the law and the Animal Act must be enforced on them too.” Thankfully, MIAR has also detailed what we can do to help these innocent creatures who are unable to escape their captivity.

Voice out your concern and displeasure by emailing the following contacts regarding this issue:

1. MPKJ (aduan@mpkj.gov.my)

2. Tuan Mohd Raiz Bin Radzuan Timbalan Yang Dipertua (ydp.mpkj@mpkj.gov.my)

3. Menteri Besar Selangor (amirudinshari@selangor.gov.my)

4. DVS (pro@dvs.gov.my)

Alternatively, MIAR has drafted a sample template so that the public can lodge a report on MPKJ at their nearest police station. You can find the template in this post.

Use your voice to speak up for innocent life forms that aren’t able to.
