The nation is in for a whirlwind court case after Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad claimed that former inspector-general of police (IGP), Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, allegedly leaked information from a task force in 2015 to former prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, that caused delays in his graft case.
Former prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad took to his Facebook page to respond to a letter of demand he received from former inspector-general of police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
He wrote, “I’ve received the letter of demand from Ex-IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar. I’ve instructed my lawyers to respond to it. I will see him in court.”
According to The Edge Markets, Khalid had sent the letter on 22 April, seeking for Dr Mahathir to withdraw his statement and issue an apology on his social media accounts within seven days. He denied the allegations made against him, calling them untrue, defamatory and had tarnished his reputation.
Khalid is now seeking RM10 million for defamation following Dr Mahathir’s accusations.
