Who would’ve guessed that Senator Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki would win the UMNO Youth Chief head with Jamal Yunos in the running as well? Shocking! I know.

Looks like Jamal Yunos’ ability to evade the police, wasn’t the same skill set he needed to become the UMNO Youth Chief.

Dr Asyraf Wajdi was said to have obtained 65 votes against Azwan’s 62 as at 12.15pm on the 24th of June, while our notorious Sungai Besar UMNO chief only received two votes. Dr Asyraf, also known as DAWD to his supporters, posted up the unofficial results in a post on his facebook page.

UMNO’s twitter handle has since confirmed this victory and offered their congratulations in a tweet.

Pahang Umno Youth chief Shahar Abdullah received 51 votes, despite leading the race yesterday.

And while we most certainly had high hopes for our favourite fugitive, he only received two votes of confidence. On the bright side, ONLY two people thought his vanishing skills were absolutely necessary to becoming UMNO Youth Chief.

Plenty of netizens took to the web to express their relief, and gratitude.

Some users breathed a sigh of relief and hope to have Jamal removed from the party. ”An embarrassment to have a member like that”, he wrote.

Some offered their congratulations and called out Jamal for being a coward.

Some even asked the one question on everyone’s mind. “Jamal?” The towel extraordinaire, and red-shirt enthusiast has not yet commented on the results.

Earlier, former wing information chief Shahril Hamdan was said to have won the number two post. Meanwhile, Datuk Zahida Zarik Khan reportedly won the Puteri chief post.

While a faction of the newly minted opposition is slowly rebuilding their ranks, it certainly looks like this is one race Jamal is done running.

Anyway! We certainly congratulate Senator Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki on the big win!
