Remember the warnings that always pop-up when someone on TV or an online video does a dangerous stunt?
These warnings are there to remind us that we should not try these stunts for ourselves. This is because they are usually performed by stunt professionals or daredevils.
So, if we attempted the stunts we see online or on TV, we could seriously injure ourselves, for instance, like this man who tried a stunt on his daughter that ended up injuring her badly.
According to NST, a man in central China severely injured his 2-year-old daughter when he tried to lift her up in the air, copying a stunt from a video he had seen on Duoyin – a popular app used to edit and share short videos. It’s like Vine!
As the father lifted the poor girl attempting a backward somersault, things took a horrific turn when she landed on her head instead of on her legs. As a result, the father’s recklessness had caused the girl to suffer a severely injured spine.
Wu Ji, a doctor at Wuhan Children’s Hospital said: “She couldn’t move her entire body, especially her two upper limbs. Her lower limbs didn’t have strength in the muscles either.”
The doctor further explained that it is unclear if the girl will make a full recovery. On top of that, the doctor had emphasised that the stunt is still dangerous even if the father had held onto her hands tightly.
“If you grab her arms too loosely, [the child] will fall on her head, but if you grab too tightly, it could cause her elbow to dislocate,” explained the doctor.
Not only that, he had also warned people to not mimic stunts they see on TV or online videos. Well, it is best if we take his advice seriously.
We hope that the poor girl recovers from her injuries. Meanwhile, we also urge everyone NOT to try the stunts you see online or on TV because if it is not properly done, it could lead to serious injuries.
