There’re a handful of milestones in life that we can hope our parents will be able to see us accomplish– graduating university, getting married, having children, buying our first house and so on.
Some of us are lucky and get to experience all of these big life moments with our parents, but some of us aren’t as lucky. We tend to forget how blessed we are to still have them around.
Not Syaf though. Syaf (@Sy4fm) recently graduated from Universiti Malaya and her TikTok video showing her dad getting really emotional at her graduation ceremony recently went viral for how heartwarming the moment was for the father-daughter duo.
As her dad stood speechless looking at Syaf in her graduation gown, he cried tears of joy as Syaf tried her best to hold in her own tears. You could really tell that that moment meant a lot to both of them.
Syaf also comforted her dad by removing his glasses, gently wiping away his tears, hugging him and kissing him on the cheeks until he recovered from his shock and could speak again.
“Maybe my dad couldn’t understand how his little girl has suddenly graduated”, Syaf wrote in the video.
She also told WORLD OF BUZZ that her dad was probably extra emotional because she’s the youngest of her siblings and she’s been close to her dad since young as she grew up with only him.
Then, she passed her graduation scroll to her dad saying, “This is for you, dad. I’ve grown up“.
It also seems that the video touched netizens’ hearts because most of the comments below the video talked about how lucky Syaf is to still have her parents around and witness her big life moments.
“You’re so lucky that your dad is able to see you succeed. Take care of your dad till the end okay; love and hug him while he’s still around.”
“I just hope that my parents will stay healthy so that they can attend my graduation ceremony later. Because I’m only doing this degree so that I can let them put on the graduation gown.”
