A video posted on YouTube earlier this week (January 14) shows a father and his two-year-old son walking near the MRT station in Bukit Bintang. Homeless families can be seen sitting along the corrugated steel wall, seeking shelter from the scorching sun. They pass by a homeless woman huddled under an old umbrella.
All of a sudden, the boy stops and runs towards the side. He sees another kid sitting in the shade beside her homeless mother. The dad watches his son curiously as the boy peers at them. Noticing that the other kid has no shoes, the boy looks at his dad. There seemed to be a quiet understanding.

The boy quickly takes off his shoes, sliding his socks off after them. Getting on his knees beside the girl, he carefully puts on the socks for her. He puts them on the wrong way, and the amused father helps adjust the socks as the boy gives the kid a quick hug.

Putting on the shoes, he tightens them carefully on her feet. On a roll, he runs to another family up the wall, this time a mother and her three kids. Approaching them with the honest innocence only a child could have, he admires the toy truck they have on the cardboard rug, one of their few meagre belongings. Again, he looks to his father. The man gives his son some money to donate and the boy happily slips it into their donation cup.

The video later shows that the boy has rallied all the children along the wall to play. Running and laughing, the kids chase each other around as the adults watch on, slipping and dodging between the feet of passersby. One of the kids enjoys his newfound blessing of shoes, racing around in circles. The heartfelt joy is in the air, radiated from the beaming smiles of the children.
As playtime ends and the boy has to go, a touched observer shakes his hand. The boy is last seen with his dad, walking away from the rusty blue wall, his little feet bare but his heart full of love.
