We’re sure you’re all familiar with the famous book-turned-movie, World War Z (aka World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War).
The book itself was a refreshing take on the borderline-overutilised “zombie” genre, and proved to be a cult favourite for years before it was adapted into a movie.
Always looking at new ways to reinvent zombie stories, the book’s author, Max Brooks, also wrote and published a short story on The Daily Beast back in 2011, and it follows two vampires caught in a global battle with the subdead (zombies). The coolest part? The story takes place in none other than Malaysia!
How did we not notice this before?
However, this story has only recently been noticed by Malaysians after Twitter user @hazizi_rikimaru posted photos of the comic book adaptation of the short story last week, which soon went viral.
The comic adaptation is called Extinction Parade (drawn by artist Raulo Caceres), which depicts a post-apocalyptic Kuala Lumpur, including famous landmarks like the Petronas Twin Towers and Petaling Street as backdrops for a gruesome zombie-vampire war. Walao!

Well, apart from KL Zombi, it’s actually pretty rare to see a post-apocalyptic Kuala Lumpur in any form of media, especially from an international perspective!
