When it comes to road safety videos, most of the time they are aimed at children, elderly drivers. However, the latest video in regards to road safety in Japan was produced specially for our feline friends.
One of Japan’s largest auto parts and chains, Yellow Hat, has gotten the help of animal psychologist from Kyoto University to produce a video purrfect for cats to learn on how to stay safe near roads.
No, this is not one of those crazy cat videos that you binge through daily at work. As reported by Soranews24, the research team behind the video tested on a specific set of meows that will draw attention to the cat audience.
Apart from that, the background music used contains the sound of birds chirping and sound patterns similar to the squeaking of small rodents to maintain your cat’s attention.

Although the video is fully narrated with meows, human subtitles are also included to ensure cat owners watch the video with their furry friend as well.
For cat owners, the video will definitely help us understand cats behaviour better. For example, you’ll learn why they like chilling in the middle of the road on top of a warm manhole cover.
Another lesson for humans is that cats will go out hunting at twilight because that’s the time when the birds are coming home to their nests. Humans are also reminded that honking and using high beam can scare a cat which can lead them to freeze in fear instead of jumping out of the car’s way.
Do you have a cat at home? Why don’t you show the video to them? You might prevent a cat-astrophe from happening in the future!
