Looking for a once in a lifetime experience? Well, there’s something big coming this February and if you miss it, you’ll never get to see it again.
Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF), also known as the Green Comet, has been discovered by astronomers on March 2, 2022, with a Samuel Oschin robotic telescope system with a wide-field survey camera at the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF), Palomar Observatory, southern California.
According to the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA), this comet that only comes around every 50,000 years will be visible in Malaysia by the end of this month.
The last time the Green Comet approached Earth was during the Paleolithic era.
“The apparent magnitude (brightness) of Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is expected to be around 8 to 11 and is difficult to see with the naked eye. However, Malaysians can use telescopes or binoculars to observe Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) from January to mid-April 2023,”
“Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) will be visible in the northeastern sky of Malaysia from January 2023 before dawn and its appearance at the end of January to March 2023 will be after sunset from the northern sky, and its appearance increasingly points towards the western sky until mid-April 2023,” MYSA shared.
So, don’t miss out on what is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
