Now that we are in the month of February, there’s one date coming up pretty soon that is celebrated by lovers everywhere. We’re talking about Valentine’s Day and this is one of the best days to romance your partner. There’s no better way to do this than by bringing your significant other out for an elegant and romantic meal.
WORLD OF BUZZ was lucky enough to be invited to try out the new Valentine Omakase menu at Nobu where Executive Chef Philip Leong and the wonderfully talented kitchen team curated a stunningly elegant meal infused with luxurious ingredients such as oysters, foie gras, uni, caviar and rose petals. Plus, dining at Nobu guarantees an unparalleled dreamy view of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline!
That’s not all, we got to meet Xandria Ooi and Yuri Wong, popular local Youtube creators who have been married for 10 years. The lovely couple even put their aprons on and spent the day assisting Executive Chef Philip Leong in preparing the delicious Japanese-Peruvian seven-course meal for us.
Here’s the seven-course menu of what we had and this will be the same set that couples can enjoy too!
Some of the standout dishes include the Smoked Oyster & Uni with Caviar, Jalapeno Sauce and Goma Anticucho; the flavourful Wagyu Yamamomo Teriyaki, with Pickled Beetroot, Crosnes and Potato Soufflé, and the yummy Inaniwa Chuka with King Crab and Moromi Miso Sauce.
The star of the menu is definitely the Smoked Oyster & Uni with Caviar and the tangy, sweet, creamy and slightly spicy sauces added an extra kick to the dish. Everything was so fresh and all the flavours melded together to create the perfect bite. The wagyu beef was seriously buttery and juicy, but we did find that it might be a tad too rich if we ate too much of it.
Finally, we had the beautifully plated Candied Rose Petals and Rose Mousse with Fresh Berries Chocolate Jelly for that perfect touch to everlasting love that ends the night on the perfect sweet note. This dessert was almost too-pretty-to-eat, as it was shaped into delicate roses and scattered with glittery candied rose petals. The rose undertones lent an extra dimension to the dessert, making every mouthful a feast for the eyes and palate.
Overall, we felt that the dishes complimented each other perfectly and were perfectly satisfied after that awesome meal. The view was breathtaking as we sampled our seven-course meal and we paired it with Nobu’s Cocktail Of The Month: the romantic ‘Shiro Rose’. It’s an elixir made of rose wine, lychee juice, elderflower syrup, rose syrup, and shochu.
Although Nobu is a stalwart in KL’s dining scene, we felt that the decor could be refreshed and revamped a little to create a few more Insta-worthy spots but it was still a very elegant and cosy environment. This menu is only available from 13th to 16th February 2020 and it is priced at RM550++ per person. Better book now before it’s full!
