Schooling during the Recovery Movement Control Order hasn’t been easy for both students and teachers. Abiding by the necessary SOPs while providing an interesting lesson has been a challenge for teachers especially with their increased duties now.
Arshad Peyza, 46, is a teacher from SK Sri Tumpat 2, Tumpat, Kelantan who took it as his personal responsibility to redecorate his classrooms using his own money.
WORLD OF BUZZ reached out to Arshad and we asked him the reason behind his uptake of this project. He simply said that this is his way of restoring the spirit and joy among students to learn after a long “vacation” during the Movement Control Order. When the classes look more inviting, the students will also feel more eager to come to school.
The whole project took more than a month to complete and he even spent more than RM1,000 of his own money for the project. He said that his students are very excited, surprised and happy to see their classrooms with an HGTV facelift.
He got the items he wanted from stores like IKEA, Kaison and MR.DIY to make his classroom vision come true.
We asked him what advice would he give to future, aspiring teachers wanting to put a spark into their students’ lives.
“Every teacher must be creative and innovative to attract the interest of students.”
Kudos to Mr Arshad for going the extra mile for his students’! Teachers, how have you been coping with the RMCO and keeping your students interested? Let us know in the comments section!
