Will the students be ok with this?
Primary school students have started going to school on 1 March while secondary school students will start their face-to-face schooling in early April to accommodate the SPM students. This will definitely be a change for the students after months of online learning which may or may not have been effective.
The Malaysian Parents’ Consensus (MIMBAR) has proposed that all school holidays this year should be abolished. This is to give students an opportunity to re-learn the lessons they left behind, said MIMBAR President, Datin Seri Ismalina Ismail.
“Most of the parents I met said that this term holiday is less significant because they have been at home for too long.”
Speaking to Astro Awani, she added that parents also hope that boarding schools would implement strict SOPs for visitors wanting to visit the students. They feel that these SOPs should be monitored to make sure children living in dormitories are not infected.
Netizens in the comments section however do not agree with the statement made my MIMBAR. Firstly, abolishing school holidays means that teachers will not get a break despite them continuously teaching whether online or face-to-face.
They also don’t believe that MIMBAR should be the voice-representative for all Malaysian parents, especially when presenting such polarising opinions.
Students, should term holidays be abolished? Let us know what you think!
