During this pandemic, the unsung heroes are those who still resume their duties simply because in their profession there’s no “work from home” option. Not to take credit away from the medical professionals who are battling this outbreak head-on, y’all still the MVP! Here are a few professions that are often overlooked in terms of how important they are and yet they just put on their masks and continue their work regardless.

1. Public Transport Drivers

If you’re living in an apartment and just happen to look out, you’ll notice that the LRT, MRT and even public buses are still operating as usual despite the Movement Control Order. These workers don’t have special leaves during festivals or public holidays and continue providing their services despite the outbreak. With some workers who are required to be at their workplace, they should be grateful to these drivers.

2. Dentists

“Dental professionals work 12 inches from the mouth and are the most at risk for contracting coronavirus!”

Yes! There are still patients visiting their dentists now and it’s not like these dentists can turn down their patients. Without knowing a complete history of the patient’s medical health, they treat them regardless. Yet, people may have forgotten the risks these tooth heroes are taking right now. Appreciate your dentists and be upfront about your medical history. This isn’t a time to be inconsiderate and selfish.

3. Bankers

You might be thinking, “Who’s going to the banks now?”. Well, still a considerable number of people. Financial institutions were listed as essential services and are still required to function as normal during this pandemic. We know that the virus travels through droplets and can stay on surfaces for hours so with so many people visiting banks, who knows what can happen? All we should know is that despite an outbreak, these bankers still strive to provide the best services for us.

4. Food Delivery Riders

For those who can afford it, this restriction order will be quite convenient. I mean, almost everything can be purchased online. Even your meals! But salute to the food delivery riders who drive across town to bring us our meals especially when restaurants have implemented a tapau-only policy. Let’s show them a little kindness and maybe forgive them if they’re a few minutes late with our orders.

5. Lab Technicians

We know about the doctors who are treating the patients infected with the virus but how about those working behind the scenes? Lab techs are working round the clock to detect the presence of the virus as quickly as possible and not only that researchers are also working on finding the cure for this virus. They work tirelessly so that medical professionals can provide the treatment as quickly as possible.

6. Hospital Cleaners

We can’t imagine what a hospital must be like right now. Despite the growing pandemic, hospital cleaners are working extra hard to keep the place sanitised. They should be given as much credit in playing a part in making sure the virus doesn’t spread.

The truth is most of these people are not being paid extra to work during the Movement Control Order. They do it simply because it’s their duty. We should take this opportunity not to compare which profession has the most to lose but instead applaud everyone who’s working despite the pandemic.

What other professions do you think deserve credit as well? Let us know in the comment section!
