DC’s The Flash movie is one of the most anticipated superhero flicks as it will reset the entire DCEU (DC Extended Universe), but also the grand return of Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman, 31 years after he last played the character.
Audiences can also expect to see a plethora of major DC characters making an appearance in the movie, and in what should’ve been kept as a major surprise, director Andy Muschietti revealed a major spoiler weeks before the movie’s release in the cinema.
As warned in the headline, only proceed if you really want to know.
In a recent interview with Esquire Middle East, Andy revealed that Superman will make a brief appearance in the movie, but don’t get excited yet. If you’re expecting to see Henry Cavill put on the cape again, you’ll end up being hugely disappointed.
Nicolas Cage will appear briefly as Superman in the movie. If the name sounds familiar to you, he used to play Ghost Rider in 2 Marvel movies – Ghost Rider and Spirit of Vengeance back in 2007 and 2011, respectively.
Back in the 90s, Nicolas Cage was set to play Clark Kent/Superman in a cancelled Superman Lives. The production went as far as screen testing and the design of the suit, but the movie was ultimately scrapped.
Two decades later, Nicolas Cage gets to don the cape as Superman, despite being a brief appearance.
Working with Nicolas Cage has been the dream of a lifetime for Andy, and he enjoyed every moment of it during the production of The Flash.
“Nic was absolutely wonderful. Although the role was a cameo, he dove into it.”
Andy also said that Nicolas has always been a huge fan of Superman, and expressed his hope to work with him again in the future.
It is unclear how Cage’s Superman will fit into the movie, but we’re pretty sure we’ve had enough promotional materials for now and go find out ourselves when The Flash runs into the theaters.
